Thank you for joining me here!
This library of practices is priced in three tiers so that you can choose the price that works best for your budget and intention. All three libraries include the same content, but you can "pay what you want" by choosing the Base Rate ($10/month), Supporter Rate ($20/month), or Patron Rate ($30/month). I want these practices to be accessible. You're encouraged to pay what you can; paying more if you're able helps me to maintain our business and support others in the community who are otherwise unable.
All my classes are rooted in years of teaching accessible, trauma-informed yoga, as well as my work training folks one-on-one in strength, mobility and mindfulness. Here are the class descriptions:
Mindful Vinyasa: Cultivate awareness, strength, and mobility in a fun, body-positive environment. Each class builds on specific muscular actions, poses, or a functional movement within the framework of a vinyasa yoga class. The pace allows for integration of body awareness, and real options for challenges are included at every level-- instead of "just take child's pose," you'll learn how to work with your body in variations that are right for you.
Slow Flow: This slower-paced class incorporates functional and flow movement, minimizes complex transitions and is designed to be more accessible than mindful vinyasa. You’re encouraged to explore your own optimal alignment as you improve strength and mobility. Resources for somatic awareness, mindfulness and nervous system regulation are included throughout the practice.
Chair/Gentle: Chair yoga classes incorporate strength, mobility and mindfulness techniques, using the support of a chair and other props. Gentle yoga classes may use the support of a chair or other props, and include less movement than Slow Flow, but more movement than YinRestorative.
Yin/Restorative: Enjoy a menu of functional stretching and restorative postures, using the support of bolsters, blocks, blankets and straps. Yin focuses more on stretch, while restorative is all about relaxation. YinRestorative blends the two styles. Meditation and somatic mindfulness techniques are taught throughout each practice, encouraging you to better understand and work with your unique system.
Functional Movement and Mindful Strength classes teach mindful strength, Postural Restoration and Functional Range System mobility techniques, and other human movement skills. These can can be used on their own or to enhance your yoga or other movement practice. Some classes require equipment (such as a dumbbell, kettlebell, or mace), but most can be done with minimal or no equipment/props.
Gada Flow: The gada, or steel mace is a traditional training tool from India. Its unique offset weight engages the stabilizing muscles around the joints, increasing overall stability, core and rotational strength. This design makes it the perfect partner to yoga mat practice. Gada Flow is a dynamic practice that combines the best of mindful yoga movement with functional strength and fitness. Options are provided for challenges at every level. Hi! I'm Laura. My pronouns are she/her.
I’m an E-RYT500 and CPT (NASM). I’ve completed the Primary Courses of Postural Restoration as well as Impingement & Instability and Cervical Revolution. I’m also a Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist (FRCMs) and Assessment Specialist (FRAs); a Curvy Yoga teacher and a member of The Breathe Network. I’m certified as a level 1 kettlebell coach through Kettlebell Kings, and I’m also a level 1 Stick Mobility Coach.
In addition to being both a graduate of and teaching assistant for Jane Clapp’s Movement For Trauma program, I have completed extensive training in trauma-informed movement, and to be able to design practices that are affirming, welcoming and accessible for a greater variety of bodies, minds and nervous systems.
I offer resources to handle life’s challenges, while recognizing that individual practices can only go so far within cultural systems that are inherently harmful for many.
I am indebted to Ilya Parker of Decolonizing Fitness for the work they’re doing to replace toxic fitness culture. As a white, cis-gendered, upper middle-class, able-bodied woman of small size, I continue to examine the ways in which I have benefited from white supremacist culture and to dismantle systems of oppression within myself. Black, Indigenous and People of Color, trans and non-binary folks, queer people, and people with disabilities are disproportionately impacted by barriers to healthcare and wellness services due to systemic and institutionalized systems. A portion of my income goes to support the work of marginalized voices in the wellness world. I also offer sliding-scale pricing for BIPOC and LGBTQ2S, those living with disabilities, and those with lower income.
I am an avid student of post-Jungian psychology and Jungian Somatics (under the tutelage of my mentor, Jane Clapp). and I practice Tibetan Buddhism under my teacher Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche; both of these form a foundation for all of my work. I love cooking and baking, reading (especially sci-fi and fantasy novels), spending time with my dogs, and getting outdoors as often as I can!
